Local Government Workshops
Throughout 2005 and 2006, ndl-metascybe sponsored a series of workshops whereby Local Authority staff spent a morning with their peers to discuss the varying challenges of Government Connect, getting services online, their Priority Outcomes and IEG deliverables.
Chaired by an impartial member of SOCITM, these half day sessions were small, interactive round table events where issues were shared between colleagues from different Authorities surrounding the current e-Government agendas. Different approaches to solving them were examined, as well as the benefits and their implications. (It was certainly not vendor driven death by PowerPoint).
The events were very well received, prompting comments such as;
"The ndl-metascybe workshop was really useful. I left feeling better informed about what my peers were doing and how they were doing it." IT Manager, Metropolitan Borough Council.
"Attending the workshop was a real benefit. We believed we were the only ones facing the major challenges of integrating our back-office systems. Fortunately for us, we discovered we were not alone. My colleague and I went away more informed about the different products on the market and how other councils are successfully implementing e-Government." IS Development Team Leader, Unitary Council.
"The great thing about the workshop is that it was a chance to discuss any area of e-Government without the push of sales person trying to sell you their product." ICT Developer, District Council.
ndl-metascybe plans to update and repeat the exercise this in 2008. If you wish to learn more and register your interest, click here.
